1. Is Point of Care Dispensing Legal?
Absolutely, in 44 of 50 states point of care dispensing is completely legal and ethical. We are currently licensed in 43 of the 44 states.
2. Why are more physicians not doing point of care dispensing?
The old point of care dispensing programs were too labor intensive, and could not provide insurance adjudication or insurance verification. This limited the applicable patient population.
3. Does my practice and/or physicians need a license to dispense medications?
In some states – yes. Obtaining a license is a simple process and when required, the forms are readily available via the Internet.
4. Do I have to have a pharmacist or a pharmacy tech on my staff?

6. Do I have to worry about patients calling with insurance questions about their medications?
Absolutely not. Primary Rx identifies the validity of a patient’s insurance and co-pay prior to dispensing, and in real time.
7. Can I process Medicare/Medicaid through Primary Rx?
Yes, when there is a part D supplement or their medications are covered by a third party, like Medicaid MCO, SelectHealth, BCBS, etc. This equates to approximately 90% of all Medicare and Medicaid patients.
8. What is a realistic figure for a single provider to earn in the first year?
A very realistic figure is approximately $45,000 profit for a single provider that sees approximately 25-30 patients per day.
